One guy on another list suggested the KJB was only .01 inaccurate (99.9% accurate). I was
thinking about this .01 margin of error as our Pastor preached from this
passage this morning:
Rev 20:12-15 And I saw the
dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened:
and another book was opened, which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books,
according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and
death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged
every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake
of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the
book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Pastor King asked, "How accurate do you think those books are that we will be
judged from?" The implication was obviously that they were absolutely 100%
accurate. He proceeded to quote verses like Matt 12:36 "every idle word
...".
There have been 10-12 billion people on this
earth since human records were kept. Most creation scientists speculate there
were 20 billion or more who lived before the flood. So let's say there have been
30 billion souls since creation.
A .01 margin of error of
30 billion would be THIRTY MILLION souls. Greater than the population of ANY city in the USA. In fact, greater than the population of 49 of the 50 states (and almost the entire population of California).
I thought of how this would play out at
the judgment.
Spirit: "Lord, thirty million souls were
sent to hell by accident! More than the entire population of New York state! Some of them have been there for thousands of
years!"
Son: "Oh my God! What a horrible
mistake! That's more people than in the whole state of Texas! Father, what are we going to do about that?!"
Father: "Oh my ME! My justice has been breached, my infallibility
has been ruined, my grace has been insufficient, my mercy has
failed!"
Lucifer: "Hey, don't worry guys.
That's only a .01 margin of error (you know, like that 99.9% accurate Bible you
used to lead so many to Christ). A mere pittance in the big picture. We'll just
tell them some people had to go to purgatory (since your grace is no longer
enough). We can even cover up for the mistake by telling the dumb suckers that
they have to pay to get their ancestors out of purgatory. We can make this into
a good thing.
If the scripture has only a .01
margin of error, what's to say this scenario couldn't happen? If the Lord is
only .01 inaccurate in preserving His word, it would stand to reason He'd only
be .01 inaccurate in preserving souls. After all, His written word is "magnified above His name" and "more sure" than His actual voice. Could you be one of the thirty million
mistakes? How can you say you won't be? By quoting a book you believe is .01
inaccurate?
You say, "But those books in heaven are kept
by GOD, so surely they are 100% accurate! The scripture has been tainted by
man."
Who said He'd preserve His scripture here on earth?
That same God.
Matt 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass
away, but my words shall not pass away.
Ps 12:6-7 The words of the LORD
are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for
ever.
2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness:
If you believe in a 99.9% accurate Bible and a 99.9% accurate God who inspired it, you are playing Russian roulette with your soul.
